Kids Storage – You’ll Need It!

There will come a time when you need some way to contain all the books and toys that begin to take over the nursery.  When it comes to kids storage, you’re really lucky to have so many options to choose from!

Kids storage is important for a number of reasons.  Safety is always first on my mind, like any parent.  I don’t want to have to walk into the nursery at night only to trip and fall on toys or books that are lying about on the floor.  And a baby who is just learning to walk can easily slip if they step on a closed book.

It’s also a good lesson for a growing child to realize that after they are done playing with their toys, the toys need to be put away, keeping their room nice and clean and safe.  This way, they’ll always know where their favorite toys and books are as well!  Some toddlers are great at putting away their toys, and with some it’s like pulling teeth! I happen to have one of each – lucky me!

When choosing your kids storage, take into account your storage needs – how much storage they need, how sturdy it needs to be, and what you’d like it to look like.  Kids storage can be as easy as buying two clear storage totes, or as fancy as fabric-lined wicker storage baskets from Land of Nod.

Lots of parents feel a bookshelf is a good storage idea. With a bookshelf, you can store books as well as toys on the shelves and everything is out in the open so toys are easy to find.  One word of caution though – please always make sure that you have anchored the bookshelf to the wall securely.  Babies and toddlers are notorious for pulling up on or climbing up on these bookshelves, and if it is anchored to the wall, there will be little danger of the bookshelf falling on your child.  Safety first!
