Crib Mobiles – What To Look For

Baby crib mobiles are an important but often overlooked part of your baby nursery!  A mobile will provide entertainment as well as visual and mental stimulation to a baby awake and lying in his or her crib.
When your baby is a tiny infant, it has been recommended that an infants crib mobiles be black, white and red.  This provides the contrast that baby’s eyes can readily see and a bit of bright color to add interest. Stripes, dots and checkerboards are good patterns for the toys hanging off the mobile.

When your baby gets a bit older, invest in crib mobiles that have some shapes or animals in various colors and sizes, as well as lights and music and/or nature sounds.  This will keep your baby entertained for awhile while their lying in their crib, which will allow you some free time, and anyone with kids knows how important free time can be!

When choosing crib mobiles, you can choose from stuffed toys, plastic toys or a combination of both.  You can choose a store-bought mobile or even make your own baby mobile!  Crib mobiles are available in many stores as well as online.

One thing to consider when choosing your baby mobiles is your nursery theme.  You may want your baby’s mobile to coordinate with your theme, or you could simply purchase whatever strikes your fancy in terms of crib mobiles.

And speaking of fancy, your crib mobiles can be as fancy and as plain as you’d like.  I’ve seen crib mobiles anywhere from a few dollars at a garage sale to several hundred dollars on designer baby websites!  You want to simply find the one that works for you and your baby’s nursery.

All-in-all, your choice in crib mobiles, whether your baby is an infant or a bit older baby, should be based on your taste, your nursery theme and your budget!  Choose the crib mobile that you feel will be fun and entertaining for your baby and you won’t be disappointed!
