The Changing Table – A Nursery Necessity!

After bringing your newborn baby home, you already know that one of your most important responsibilities lies in keeping your baby comfortable, clean and dry. You’ll be changing lots and lots of diapers at all hours of the day and night, especially in the first few months. This is why having a changing table is so important!

A changing table allows you to have all of the diapering supplies located in one place. Diapers, wipes, powder, creams and lotions are all going to be used during changing time, although maybe not all at one time! It’s important to have all of these items available within your reach, not only for convenience, but also for safety.

One of the most important things about a changing table is that it have a “safety belt”, which is a belt that you secure around your baby’s waist while you’re changing their diaper.

This way, they can’t roll off the changing table. It’s important also to realize that this is why you want all of your diaper changing items within easy reach – you should never, ever leave your baby unattended to go get your powder, etc.

It only takes a second of wavered attention for your baby to be hurt by rolling off, grabbing the open powder and shaking it on their face…it doesn’t take much imagination to think of the many possibilities for disaster.

There are some diaper-changing tabletops that come attached to a dresser. This serves two purposes: first, it serves as a changing table and a dresser, and then when the baby is no longer in diapers, the tabletop can be removed, and the dresser used for many years to come! This is a great choice in furniture because it offers longevity and is a money-saver in the long run.

A changing table that keeps everything within arms reach while you are changing your baby’s diaper is an absolute necessity for any safe and well-equipped nursery. It will be a dedicated place to store your baby’s diapers and related items while keeping baby safe, and you’ll both be happy!
