Baby Furniture – The Five Essentials

We all dream of the day we bring our baby home and most couples have the nursery ready long before that big day. What baby furniture is essential to the nursery, though? Many new parents wonder what is baby furniture is necessary and what is simply hype. Here is a list of the five most useful and practical pieces of baby furniture absolutely necessary for your baby’s new nursery.
These five pieces will ensure that both parents and baby are comfortable in the nursery and can enjoy endless joyful days within those walls.
* The first piece of baby furniture is the most obvious – the crib! You have the choice of a standard crib, a convertible crib, or a round crib. The standard crib is the most basic and the lease expensive. A 3-in-1 or a 4-in-1 convertible crib will convert from a baby crib to a toddler bed to a day bed or single bed.
A 4-in-1 will convert to a full bed as well! While the convertible crib is more expensive, it also has the greatest longevity and diversity. Finally, a round crib is the most modern, the most trendy and also the most expensive.
A round crib is very unique-looking and definitely has it’s advantages, as discussed in the previous post entitled “The Round Crib Advantage”.
* The next piece of baby furniture to consider will be a dresser. The dresser will likely be around for awhile, so pay extra attention to quality and construction. Secure joints and smooth drawer tracks are essential. You’ll need plenty of space for baby’s clothes and accessories and the dresser will serve your child for many years to come!
* A changing table will be worth it’s weight in gold! You’ll be changing plenty of diapers and a changing table will store not only your diapers but all the accessories too, such as diaper cream, lotion, baby powder and wipes. You’ll need to make sure you have a changing pad on your changing table that is easily washable and dryable.
* The fourth piece of baby furniture you’ll need is a comfortable rocking chair or glider. You’ll need a cozy place to rock your baby during the day and plenty of times during the night! Spring for a comfortable, high-quality pad set as you’ll be spending plenty of quiet, serene time here with your baby!
* Finally, you’ll need a nice floor lamp that accommodates a variety of settings – low, medium and high brightness. You’ll want a very low wattage setting for the middle-of-the-night feedings and diaper changes.
Pick your baby furniture with the present and the future in mind and you’ll have many happy days and nights in your baby’s nursery!
